Timex was a sponsor of the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon, and they hoped that this new electronic item would improve product sales. Profits for the new check out grew fast despite the fact that both styles continued in production with nominal adjustments by 1991, Ironman sales much exceeded these of the before Triathlon watch.
